There is a large range of York City Centre Restaurants on offer for those people ready to look around and explore some of the hidden gems that York has to offer.

York is considered as one of the most popular tourist destinations all over England. The city of York is being flocked by several million tourists annually, due to the fact that there is a wealth of things to see and do there, and a lot of which centers around York’s rich heritage. But aside from these tourist attractions, the city of York is also home to several world renowned restaurants. These restaurants consistently set themselves apart from the competition through their wide selection of delicious food, as well as excellent customer service.

If you are planning to visit the beautiful city of York, you better check out this list of York City Centre Restaurants.

Melton’s Too – This restaurant is a byproduct of Chef Michael Hjort’s well-regarded Melton’s restaurant, offering a wide variety seasonal and local produce – served in a more informal setting. The place is a nicely renovated 17th-century workshop, which is split in between a cozy cafe-bar and a bistro. Have a taste on their light, creamy and intensely buttery scrambled eggs with smoked Whitby salmon. The menu ranges from Peruvian beef dish to roast squash and ravioli with pesto.

The Hairy Fig -The Hairy Fig is where York’s finest pork pie can be found. The pie is a famous delicacy in York – delivered fresh daily from the village of Bubwith. The pies are superbly tasty, made from chunky mild-cured pork wrapped in a supremely thin and crisp pastry. They are also known for the wide variety of cakes that they sell, as well as the various olives and cured meats and some of the specialty baked breads in York.

Henshelwood – This is a restaurant where you can find everything under the sun – from fresh Longley Farm curds to Yorkshire chilies. As soon as you enter, you will notice these foods hanging on their shelves. Henshelwood is also an excellent place to order a takeaway sandwich, a slice of homemade quiche and a cup of a very delicious Fairtrade coffee. Salad boxes are also available, in which you are free to mix and match the deli counter items, and if you may, go ahead and add a pork pie to your meal.

These are just a few York City Centre Restaurants but  there are over 100 more if you go out and explore!

As you can imagine there are also many familiar chain restaurants in such a popular city, such as Ask, The Living Room, La Taska, Loch Fyne and Zizi’s, but the familiar chains are far outweighed by the excellent independent York City Centre Restaurants.
